Our very own Mikaela Sydney Smith, the dazzling founder of Brown Girl Magic entered the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc's Delta Shark Tank Jr competition and LIVE on Saturday competed in the final round and secured the bag and won $3,000 in cash and prizes!
Before making it to the final round Mikaela had to create a video that highlighted what Brown Girl Magic is all about and explain why she wanted to win the competition and how she would use the funds if she won.
Once she made it through that round, Mikaela was set to present her business in a LIVE zoom with other viewers and judges.
There were dozens of kidpreneurs who entered the competition and made it to the final round.. In fact there were 13 contestants including Mikaela who showcased their businesses from selling jewelry, and baking delicious goods like cakes and cupcakes and one young man even pitched his custom bow ties.
Mikaela showcased a display of shirts that spoke to the heart of the brand that includes apparel with positive messaging catered to black girls, other girls of color, civil rights, beauty and our culture.
"I am SO happy. This really means a lot to me," said Mikaela after being announced the winner.
The money will be used toward Brown Girl Magic, including the purchase of a heat press to add custom designs to the platform!
Let's cheer for Mikaela for keeping the faith and representing for the brown girls! And thank you to everyone who has supported Brown Girl Magic! We love you!
